Granola is one of those things that I just cant have enough of. I literally used to buy bags of granola from the store any time that I saw it was on sale and keep a stash at home. I mean granola is expensive with a capital E. But why?! Most granolas are just oats, nuts and seeds. I mean, I get it, sure, nuts are expensive which likely drives the cost up. But, you can totally buy nuts in bulk which makes them cheaper. And then, you can make granola at home for a fraction of the price. The other components are typically oats butter or oil, and a liquid sweetener, which tend to be very inexpensive. However, if they aren’t inexpensive, you can usually buy ingredients in bulk which helps cut costs.
My point of all of this? You can make granola at home, and for seriously a fraction of the price! There are a lot of factors that lend themselves to the high prices of store bought granola. And I totally get it – store bought granola’s are tasty. I definitely still pick up a bag now and then because ya gotta splurge sometimes! But the smell and taste of homemade granola is just unbeatable. Once you make it once it’s hard to stop… believe me.
By making homemade granola, I save myself a few bucks, and always have a batch either in the oven or on my counter ready for use! I toss homemade granola on yogurt, pancakes, in a bowl with milk, or just straight in my mouth from the container I store it in! The ways you can use granola are endless, and that’s the beauty of it! Can’t wait to see how you put yours to good use. 🙂 If you’re looking for more homemade granola recipes, see below for some of my other favorites!
