One Bowl Banana Bread With Crumble Topping

Is anything better than minimal dishes and the smell of banana bread? Maybe, but in my book, absolutely not. Especially when it’s a super simple banana bread with a sugary crumble topping. When you think about it, household chores come on a spectrum, some not so bad, some worse than others, and some just downright awful. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Vacuuming is just not that bad. It is kind of satisfying, and pretty fun in the end to have nice clean floors. Making the bed makes me feel put together, takes minimal time, and all in all it is not so bad. Doing laundry is not terrible and I enjoy clean clothes, but takes a long time. Could be worse, however it’s not horrible. Cleaning the bathroom… absolutely not, just not fun whatsoever.

And finally, washing dishes. It’s not fun, and truthfully I’d rather just eat and not have to clean honestly ever. Plus… a chore that you have to do daily… nope not for me. But this is why this banana bread is the MOST fun. It comes together super quickly and all in one bowl! The dished will be done in no time so you can just sit back and enjoy the smell of your super simple banana bread baking to perfection…. and relax after it’s done baking.

Tips for making your super simple banana bread absolutely perfect:

  1. When mixing the dry ingredients into the wet, fold them in rather than mixing vigorously. Folding them in will keep the bread super light and fluffy which is what we want!
  2. The crumble of any recipe, this one included, becomes less crisp as time goes on, so i recommend enjoying this coffee cake within ~2-3 days and storing in an airtight container once fully cooled.

Ingredients

  • Banana Bread Ingredients
  • 2 ripe Bananas, mashed

  • 2/3 cup Brown Sugar

  • 1/4 cup Maple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted & cooled

  • 2 Eggs, room temperature

  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour

  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda

  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder

  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • Crumble Topping
  • 5 Tbsp All Purpose Flour

  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 Tbsp Cane Sugar

  • 3 Tbsp cold Butter

  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon

  • Optional Mix-Ins
  • 2/3 Cup Walnuts

  • 2/3 Cup Chocolate Chips

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit & line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mash bananas, eggs, brown sugar, maple syrup and melted butter. Whisk thoroughly until combined.
  • Once wet ingredients are well combined, add flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon & salt. Fold together, until fully combined and no pockets of dry ingredients remain. Try not to overmix past when the dry ingredients are incorporated.
  • Add batter into a parchment-lined 9×11 loaf pan.
  • Next, cube the butter into about 1/2 inch pieces for the crumble topping.
  • In a separate bowl, combine all crumble ingredients and mix together with your hands until crumble forms. The best way to combine here is to lightly press the butter together with your fingers until it combines with the dry ingredients until crumbles form– this should take only about 2 – 3 minutes.
  • Generously sprinkle all of the crumble over the top of the banana bread batter.
  • Bake for about 55-60 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let bread cool, slice & enjoy. Store in an airtight container.

I made this recipe on Saturday night and it came out wonderfully! But I followed the same recipe again on Sunday (lots of bananas going bad) but I noticed it’s not the same. Can I get a copy of the previous recipe as the crumble came out differently this time.

Thanks so much for your comment! The original crumble recipe was: 2 Tbsp All Purpose Flour, 1 Tbsp Cane Sugar, 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar, 2 Tbsp Butter and 1/4 tsp Cinnamon. Felt like the original crumble recipe wasn’t enough to cover the top of the bread so we tweaked it slightly. 🙂

This recipe of banana bread is now the only recipe of banana bread I will make! It’s just so moist and good! My mom and I love it and this is the second time I made it in 3 weeks!
